Swear to God, if you’d told me a year ago I’d willingly let anyone jab my face with a bunch of tiny needles, I’d have laughed right in your face. Needles? On purpose? On my mug? Miss me with that. But hey, I kept hearing about microneedling from everyone—friends, random internet strangers, even my cousin who’s not exactly a skincare guru. Curiosity (and maybe a little desperation) won.

Let me just lay it out: I’m not secretly working for Big Skincare. I’m not getting paid for this. I just want to spill what actually happened, no filter—what was awesome, what sucked, and what I wish someone had told me before I walked into that clinic.

Why the Heck Did I Try This?

Honestly, my skin was just… blah. Not a disaster, but not winning any awards either. Some stubborn acne scars, weird little bumps, dullness that no “glow serum” could touch—basically, my skin was doing the bare minimum and expecting a trophy. I wasn’t looking for a miracle, just, like, a pulse.

So after a few too many nights doomscrolling through Reddit threads and watching way too many “transformation” reels on Instagram, I caved. right?

The Actual Experience: Did It Hurt?

Real talk: the name “microneedling” sounds like medieval torture. I pictured some kind of face aerator situation. But, nah, it wasn’t that dramatic.

First up, they smeared numbing cream all over me (bless up for that). When the needling started, it was more like a weird buzzing pen that gently scratched my skin. Not exactly a spa day, but not “call the ambulance” painful either.

After the session, my face looked like I’d lost a slap fight with the sun—red, a bit hot, but not throbbing or anything. That faded in about a day, so no biggie.

The Unexpected Perk Nobody Warned Me About

Here’s the wild part: skincare after microneedling feels like pouring water on a dry sponge. My skin lapped up my serums and moisturizers like it was parched in the desert. Stuff I’d used for ages suddenly felt like it was actually… working? Wild.

The Unexpected Perk Nobody Warned Me About

A few days later, I noticed my skin felt smoother—less bumpy, a bit brighter. Not airbrushed, but definitely not “meh” anymore. Acne scars started to chill out. After round two? Even better.

Would I Tell My Friends to Try It?

Okay, listen. If you want a one-and-done miracle, keep dreaming. You’ll need a few sessions to see real results. And it’s not exactly cheap (my wallet still hasn’t forgiven me).

But if you’ve got skin issues—scars, craters, lines, or just want to fake the “I drink water and sleep 8 hours” look—it’s worth a shot. Just don’t do it if your skin is throwing a tantrum (like a breakout or rosacea). Talk to an actual professional first. I mean it.

Will I Keep Doing It?

Absolutely. And that’s coming from someone who used to get queasy at the thought of blood draws. What I love? My face still looks like me, just… healthier. Like I finally started taking those vitamins I keep buying and never use.

Did it turn me into a flawless, dewy goddess? Lol, no. But I’m not hiding from my own reflection anymore. That’s a win.

Keep Doing It

Thinking About Trying It?

I get it—it sounds scary. But seriously, just book a consult. Ask all the weird questions. (I literally asked if I’d bleed everywhere. The nurse laughed and said, “Girl, no.”) You’re not signing a contract in blood, just getting info.

Bottom line: your skin deserves some love. And you deserve to feel good showing it off—whatever that means for you.
